The little duck that could

Finally got out for a good long ride on the new Hypermotard EVO SP and put it through it's paces.

Must say it was one hell of an impressive ride over 1600kms and surprisingly capable, but now I know what 'Ducati arse' actually means.
ADR 6 is now been and gone and it's time to reflect and think about stuff in hindsight, that's why I've been a bit quiet of late.

That aside we roughly stuck to this Google Map if you want to see the detailed route, it's mostly all there with some last minute changes due to inclement weather. There were some awesome roads but really rough weather over the mountains leaving Bombala heading into Pambula, as well as some really incredible heat through the hinterlands popping out the other side. Tiring stuff riding in that shit in the wrong gear.

Weather actually took some of the fun out of it for me, and I found the strength and weakneses of the Pirelli Supercorse tyres - they like hot rough bitumen very much. Very much indeed - they balled up really easily and I reckon I could tear one to shreds in around 3000kms of hard riding on good warm roads - even less on a track I'd imagine.

Great soft rubber, but not a great tyre in the wet. I had troubles with the front end loading up and kept breaking traction to easily in the wet which just sucked. Sliding the front out sucks period.

And in the dirt, well you may as well just put some slicks on. No traction whatsoever.

Maybe that is just me cause I admit freely now, after some hard kms; I don't really know how to ride the Hyper yet - I've got heaps to learn about getting the power down better and at the right time, I need to work out how to break more subtly and with better control and a heap of other shit pops up in my head about what I need to learn about riding.

Funny how a good few days ride tailing better riders and playing cat and mouse with some pretty fast guys on much bigger bikes makes helps take stock of your own ability and think about the things that you can improve on.

In my case that's quite a bit. Really thinking about heading to Superbike school if they do motard training or maybe some track days at Broadford to hone a few skills.

More analysis on bits and pieces later on, but just a few choice pics for now. Ducati Hypermotard EVO SP
